About the role

Viondata Partners is seeking a dedicated and qualified Youth Worker to be deployed full-time at New Town Primary School. This role is part of a Ministry of Education (MOE) initiative to support Middle and Upper Primary students with additional needs from disadvantaged backgrounds. You will play a vital role in strengthening students' school engagement, social-emotional competencies, and academic participation through consistent mentoring and targeted support .

Responsibilities

  • Student Engagement & Mentoring: Build sustained, trust-based relationships with at-risk students to strengthen school engagement, improve attendance, and foster a sense of belonging .
  • Social-Emotional Development: Support students in developing key competencies, including self-awareness, emotional regulation, empathy, and responsible decision-making.
  • Academic Support: Reinforce learning routines, boost motivation, and encourage help-seeking behaviours to improve academic participation.
  • Executive Functioning Skills: Help students develop organisational skills, task initiation, goal-setting, and perseverance.
  • Home-School Collaboration: Build positive relationships between the school, students, and their families to strengthen home-school partnerships .
  • Social Skills & Peer Interaction: Develop students' communication and social skills to enable positive peer interactions and collaborative learning.
  • Early Intervention: Provide early intervention and support for at-risk students through regular monitoring and close collaboration with teachers and the school's support teams.
  • Case Management: Attend case review and management meetings with school personnel to discuss student progress and needs .

Requirements

  • Must be a Registered Social Worker or Registered Social Work Practitioner with the Singapore Association of Social Workers (SASW) .
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Counselling, Psychology, or a related field is preferred .
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in youth work or social work.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with direct experience in school social work or practice in a school setting. Prior social work experience working with children and youth in community settings will also be considered .
  • Skills & Competencies :
  • Passionate about working with vulnerable students and a strong belief in their potential.
  • Excellent facilitation and engagement skills, with the ability to motivate students through hands-on approaches.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, families, and school staff.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Contract Period: 27 July 2026 - 27 November 2026.
  • This is a contract role. You will be employed by Viondata Partners for the duration of the assignment and deployed to New Town Primary School.
  • The successful candidate must be available to attend an interview as part of the selection process (as per the Authority's requirements in the ITQ).
