Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design Management: Manage and process design work including general arrangement drawings, conceptual models, and layout drawings to ensure technical feasibility and operational excellence throughout the project lifecycle.
• Technical Support: Provide hands-on technical guidance on the shop floor, review customer technical specifications during tenders, handle complaints, conduct root cause analysis, and evaluate concession requests to support sales and operations effectively.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work proactively with cross-functional teams to own deliverables, support capital projects, and coordinate execution to enhance customer satisfaction and project success.
• Supplier Development: Contribute to new supplier development by assessing technical capabilities, guiding production localization, and inspecting major ongoing orders to ensure quality and compliance.
• Customer Engagement: Attend customer visits to understand technical aspects of new opportunities and identify improvement areas for process mechanical equipment or pipelines.
• Daily Role: The successful candidate will engage daily in detailed design activities, technical problem-solving, collaboration with internal teams and external partners, and continuous learning to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
• Success Metrics: Deliver on-time, high-quality designs that meet customer, safety, and quality requirements, contributing to project success and customer satisfaction.
• Travel Requirements: Occasional travel may be required for customer visits and supplier assessments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with mechanical design experience or a strong willingness to learn and grow.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD tools, preferably Siemens NX, with solid experience in engineering drawings and detailing.
• Strong technical design skills with knowledge of manufacturing methods such as sheet metal forming, welding, and machining.
• Effective communication skills with good command of English and ability to collaborate across different levels.
• Experience with pumps, rotating equipment, mineral processing equipment, and auxiliary products like electric motors, gearboxes, and mechanical seals.
• Exposure to CE, PED, ATEX standards and familiarity with SAP and PLM tools (e.g., Teamcenter).
• Manufacturing experience and knowledge of welding and machining processes.
• Background in mining, mineral processing, heavy engineering, or pump manufacturing industries.
