CLASS START DATE: Summer 2026 In-Person Courses: General Chemistry June 2, 2026 - July 31, 2026 Tuesday & Thursday 5:30pm-9:15pm with additional online instruction Intro to Biochemistry June 1, 2026 - July 30, 2026 Monday & Wednesday 8:30am-11:20am Tuesday & Thursday 7:30am-11:15am Fall 2026 In-Person Courses: Morning, Afternoon & Evening August 15, 2026 - December 20, 2026 STANDARD HOURS: Flexibility in schedule is required for day, night or weekend classes as needed. SALARY: $45.00 per class hour contracted Requires unofficial transcripts to be submitted for instructor certification eligibility review. Part-Time faculty are an integral part of the College's staff, helping us provide all learners with the highest quality learning opportunities when, where and how they want it. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering instruction and assessment of learning outcomes. Utilize engaging instructional strategies and methodologies which foster student success both in and outside of the classroom. Maintain accurate student records and communication. Advise and support students as a mentor and role model in the achievement of their learning and career goals. This includes being accessible to students outside of scheduled classroom time. Provide educational leadership and work effectively with faculty, administration, and campus support staff. Maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and licensure required by other agencies to maintain individual and program accreditation. Comply with College policies and practices related to instruction, assessment, and delivery. Additional duties and responsibilities will be discussed as needs arise. Additional Duties and Responsibilities: Course emphasis will be on General Chemistry, Biochemistry, Principles of Sustainability, College Chemistry, Organic Chemistry Coordinate with chemistry instructors at local high schools on chemistry transcribed credit courses to ensure maintenance of NWTC standards for quality and rigor Collaborate with other Chemistry team members and Academic Coaching & Tutoring staff and utilize pertinent data to ensure consistent quality instruction and assessment Actively instructs and manages a chemistry classroom and laboratory environment Science outreach and recruitment activities as requested by department/division/college (e.g. high school career fairs and science class visits, NEW SOI activity facilitation, Explore Days activities for district high schools, ACPS activities for district high schools, Chamber of Commerce education fairs/events, campus open houses, Tech Challenge, MindTrekkers, Find Your Inspiration events, high school health class visits, Future Eagles Fun Day, etc.) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE Master's degree and a combination of 18 graduate/undergraduate credits in Chemistry or related subfield they are teaching. Transcripts must identify at least 9 graduate/undergraduate credits in Chemistry and another 9 graduate/undergraduate credits in the related discipline/subfield. Examples of qualifying subfields could include, but are not limited to: Biochemistry Chemical Engineering Pharmacology Science Education Ability to work in a team environment. Demonstrate knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. Canvas (and/or other Learning Management Systems) knowledge beneficial. Ability to travel as needed.
