Title Security Operations Specialist Reports To Sr. Manager, Security Operations The Job The Security Operations Specialist serves as a frontline operator within the Security Operations Command Center (SOCC), responsible for monitoring security systems, coordinating incident response, maintaining situational awareness, and supporting security operations across company facilities. This role serves as the first point of contact for security, safety, and operational incidents. Specialists are responsible for initial incident triage, escalation coordination, event documentation, dispatch and communications, and coordinating response efforts during ongoing events. The ideal candidate is highly communicative, detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and capable of making sound decisions while managing multiple concurrent events in a fast-paced operational environment.
Responsibilities
- Monitor access control systems, video management systems, alarms, and operational monitoring platforms.
- Monitor and identify anomalous activity, security concerns, and operational risks.
- Maintain situational awareness across company facilities and ongoing events.
- Serve as the first point of contact for security and operational incidents.
- Perform initial incident triage and coordinate escalation procedures when necessary.
- Coordinate communications and dispatch support with onsite personnel, vendors, first responders, and internal stakeholders.
- Create detailed incident reports, event documentation, operational logs, and after-action documentation.
- Communicate clearly and professionally during routine operations and emergency situations.
- Process cardholder access requests and manage credentialing within access control systems.
- Support investigations through video review, system research, and information gathering.
- Follow established SOPs, playbooks, and operational procedures while identifying opportunities for operational improvement.
- Support the continued development and maturity of Command Center operations and processes.
- Conduct detailed shift turnover briefings to ensure operational continuity.
- Support security operations across multiple facilities and geographic regions.
- Assess and prioritize incidents based on severity, operational impact, and life safety considerations.
- Foster open, respectful, and professional communication directly within the team as well as with co-workers, teammates, and leaders across the organization.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
- 1+ years of experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC/GSOC), emergency communications center, dispatch environment, military operations center, or related operational role preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize during high-tempo operational events.
- Experience using Microsoft Office products and web-based systems.
- Ability to remain calm and professional during emergencies or critical incidents.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Ability to work extended periods in a monitoring and operations environment.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
