Job Family: Student Work Study Department: Center for Leadership and Volunteerism Supervisor: Margaret Rooyakkers Job Title: 2025-2026 America Reads/America Counts Online Tutor Job Description: The America Reads/America Counts (ARAC) tutoring program is designed to enhance the reading and math skills of Kindergarten-8th grade students in Macon-Bibb County. ARAC tutors are compensated through federal work-study funds and receive coordination and training from Mercer University's Center for Community Engagement and ARAC program partners. ARAC tutors provide one-on-one and/or small-group instruction to their tutees. ARAC tutors control their schedules each semester by selecting their recurring weekly schedule for the ReadUnited Online tutoring program, as well as their preferred day(s) and time(s) of tutoring. The online program runs Monday-Thursday with shifts in hour increments between the hours of 8 am and 3 pm. The ARAC tutor's schedule remains consistent for the duration of the semester . Responsibilities of an ARAC tutor include attending scheduled tutoring sessions attending all required trainings and meetings submitting timesheets on time on Workday and BearPulse participating consistently in follow-up, documentation, and evaluation activities
