Responsibilities
- Makes ward rounds and periodic inspections to evaluate the care and treatment of patients and to discuss, observe and advise on the treatment of unusual or difficult cases.
- Responsible for diagnosis of illness and the determination and administration of treatment to be used on patients.

- Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Successful completion of an accredited program for Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner. Incumbents must have a current, valid license as a Registered Nurse and be certified as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Nebraska.
- Preferred Qualifications: Has advanced training in psychiatric assessments and treatment.
- Knowledge, skills and abilities
- Knowledge of: the development and implementation of a plan of management and care; therapeutic diets; the setting of a state institution and the rules, regulations and policies inherent in such a setting; physical, occupational and recreational therapies.
- Ability to: understand the health problems of elderly patients/clients; remain flexible and receptive to new approaches; maintain professionalism and objectivity under stress.
- Skill in: counseling individual patients/clients and their families; interviewing patients/clients and documenting medical histories.
