This position is located at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center, Augusta, GA. Engineering Service. The Motor Vehicle Operator is in the Transportation Section. Driver's License Requirement: Must possess a current and valid State issued Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger (P) endorsement(s) to operate a motor vehicle. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: Selectee is required to posses the physical and mental qualifications required to secure the applicable state operator's permit, the ability to sit and drive for long periods of time, the coordination required to manipulate gears, steering, brakes, clutch, accelerator, and the hoist unit; the ability to perform frequent lifting and loading of objects weighing over 50 pounds, the muscular strength to steer and shift gears on heavily loaded trucks. Incumbent is subjected to all kinds weather, exposure to dust and automotive fumes, exposure to traffic accidents, cuts , bruises, and broken bones while loading and unloading vehicles, exposure to hospital contaminated waste, exposure to garbage, and working around mental and TB patients. subject exposure to asbestos and chemicals which may cause skin irritation and burns.
