Valeo is a leading supplier of components and systems for the world's automakers. We are seeking a highly analytical and logical Automotive System Engineer to join our development team. In this role, you will bridge the gap between hardware and software, defining system requirements and ensuring seamless integration of automotive communication technologies. This role offers a dynamic, hands-on environment where you will directly interact with hardware and vehicles, leverage standard lab instrumentation, utilize scripting for automation, and continuously learn the company's latest proprietary technologies. We are primarily looking for a Mid-level or Senior engineer , but we are highly open to Junior candidates who demonstrate the right technical mindset and an eagerness to learn. YOUR CHALLENGES? Hands-on System Setup: Take heavy ownership of physical engineering tasks, including setting up test benches and installing complex electronic/software systems. Lab Equipment Utilization: Actively use standard laboratory equipment-including power supplies, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters -to bring up, test, and troubleshoot systems. In-Vehicle Integration: Perform in-vehicle integration, configuration, and testing (note: this involves electrical and software system troubleshooting, not mechanical vehicle work). Scripting & Automation: Use Python to develop scripts for test automation, data parsing, or system configuration. Define, analyze, and manage system-level requirements for automotive electronic control units (ECUs). Collaborate closely with Software, Hardware, and Validation teams to ensure proper system implementation. LET'S TALK ABOUT YOU... Technical Profile & Requirements Core Mindset & Fundamentals: Strong logical and analytical mindset with a structured approach to problem-solving. Adaptability & Continuous Learning: A strong desire and capacity to quickly learn and adopt new technologies and tools developed by the company. Basic understanding of electronics (schematics, microcontrollers) and software development concepts. Comfortability with the physical aspects of engineering (building benches, handling wiring, working with lab instruments, and inside test vehicles). Software & Scripting: Required: Proficiency in Python scripting for automation, testing, or tooling. Networking & Protocols: Solid understanding of standard communication protocols: Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, CAN , and Automotive Ethernet . Hands-on familiarity with automotive testing and simulation tools, specifically Vector CANoe . Preferred / Added Value Skills Advantage: Knowledge or experience with C++ programming . Proficiency or familiarity with LabVIEW for test automation, data acquisition, or instrument control. Familiarity with Hardware-in-the-Loop ( HIL ) and Software-in-the-Loop ( SIL ) simulation and testing processes. Knowledge of automotive standards (e.g., ASPICE, ISO 26262) is a plus.
