Job Overview The Explosive Handler supports explosive and energetic material operations in a DoD compliant aerospace environment. This role is responsible for the safe receipt, storage, transport, assembly, and processing of energetic materials, munitions, and explosive components used in production of munitions for fielded loitering munitions DoD systems. The Explosive Handler ensures all actions adhere to DoD explosives safety standards (e.g., DoDM 4145.26, DESR 6055.09, AFMAN 91-201) and supports operational explosive requirements across engineering, logistics, and production teams. Essential Functions Explosive Material Handling Conduct safe handling, movement, preparation, and accountability of explosives, propellants, pyrotechnics, and associated energetic devices. Able to obtain HazMat CDL certification in support of explosive transport operations. Perform receiving, unpacking, inventory verification, and segregation of energetic materials in accordance with DoD and company standards. Assemble and integrate secondary explosive components into aerospace subsystems under detailed technical procedures, work instructions, and engineering drawings. Assist EOD personnel in conducting assembly of explosive components in support of program requirements. Safety, Compliance, and Documentation Follow all requirements in DESR 6055.09, DoDM 4145.26, and service-specific explosives safety instructions. Maintain strict adherence to QD criteria, hazard classifications, compatibility groups, and approved site plans. Support explosive safety inspections, and audits. Maintain logs, hazard sheets, lot traceability, inventory tracking, and documentation for all explosive movements and operations. Facility & Equipment Maintain magazines, designated storage locations, and explosive operating facilities in audit-ready condition. Operate logistic equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and approved explosive transport vehicles. Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly explosive facility inspections. Knowledge of energetic system integration processes. Education / Certifications High school diploma or GED; technical school or military training preferred. Certification in explosive handling (NAVSEA, USAF, or Army equivalent). Forklift certification and hazmat training.
