Responsibilities
- Operate molding presses and assist in opening/closing molds for repair and maintenance.
- Troubleshoot basic molding process issues related to molds.
- Assist in setting, pulling, cleaning, and inspecting molds.
- Perform mold testing (water, air, and electrical) before release from the Tool Room.
- Wire and check all mold heaters.
- Monitor mold efficiencies and support continuous improvement efforts.
- Maintain accurate documentation in Mold Maintenance Files, including work performed, dates, and details.

- Apply green-tag status to molds that are production-ready.
- Assist with training of new team members.

- Perform routine safety and equipment inspections. Notify supervisors of damaged molds or needed repairs.
- Maintain a clean and organized Tool Room.
- Shut down equipment when necessary to prevent harm to personnel or property.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by Tooling leadership.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a machinist apprenticeship program or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with machining equipment (lathes, mills, grinders, etc.).
- Knowledge of injection mold components and systems.
- Proficiency with measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
- Good mathematical, analytical, and troubleshooting abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Positive attitude with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Must provide own hand tools.
- Comfortable working around grease, oil and solvents.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Forklift and crane certification required (or ability to obtain).
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and squat for extended periods.
- Ability to distinguish between colors.
