Responsibilities

  • Act as the lead legal advisor for the entire AI and software product development lifecycle, from initial ideation and UX reviews to launch and post-deployment monitoring.
  • Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of a robust global privacy program, to ensure compliance with GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and emerging state and international privacy laws.
  • Establish legal frameworks and policies for the development and use of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, addressing issues of data scraping, algorithmic bias, transparency, and intellectual property.
  • Partner with Archer's data transformation office and cybersecurity teams to manage record retention policies and procedures, data mapping, data protection impact assessments, and data breach mitigation and remediation (internal and external).
  • Proactively track and analyze new legislation and enforcement trends related to privacy, AI, and consumer protection to provide strategic guidance to leadership.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally in a proactive manner to ensure legal support is fully integrated with the business and provided in an efficient and timely manner.
  • What You Need:
  • 6-10 years of experience as a practicing attorney in a law firm or in-house legal department (with at least 3 of those years with an in-house legal team).
  • Proven track record of close collaboration with product, security, and data technology teams in advising on product introduction, data governance, and go-to-market strategies.
  • Deep knowledge of consumer protection regulations and data privacy laws, with particular focus on GDPR and CCPA/CPRA. Experience handling complex data-sharing arrangements and international data transfer mechanisms.
  • Experience advising on the development and use of Artificial Intelligence products and services and related compliance advice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex legal concepts for business stakeholders.
  • A proactive attitude and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Intellectual curiosity, practical business judgment, and strong problem-solving skills.
  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one state bar.

Requirements

  • Prior experience with aviation and the aerospace industry, particularly with emerging technologies development, aircraft operations, and/or private piloting.
  • Specific experience with defense contracting, federal procurement, FAR/DFARS, and defense-sector regulatory frameworks, including advising on the handling of classified information and technical data.
  • Familiarity with using, implementing, and administering contract management systems (e.g., Ironclad) and e-billing tools.
