About the role

The Demand Planner coordinates all SAP APO statistical forecasting and data integrity activities. The planner will create baseline forecast models to support the monthly S&OP process. The demand planner will own and drive statistical forecast accuracy performance to achieve targets. They will collaborate with the DP Business Partner on history adjustments to drive robust statistical forecasts. The demand planner is responsible for data integrity, ensuring that the weekly forecast sent to Supply is applied to the accurate sku/location.

Responsibilities

  • Generate and maintain a rolling 18-month baseline statistical demand forecast.
  • Own the statistical forecast, partnering with the Demand Manager and DP Business Partner to monitor and highlight deviations from shipment and depletion trends.
  • Use APO as the primary forecasting tool, ensuring accurate system usage, parameter maintenance, and master data integrity (e.g., CVC creation, disaggregation factors, attributes).
  • Maintain and optimise statistical models by selecting best-fit parameters, analysing outliers, and applying corrections.
  • Collaborate with the DP Business Partner on forecast history cleansing, documenting all adjustments and assumptions (e.g., market trends, seasonality, promotions).
  • Support scenario planning for promotions, innovations, and major market events (e.g., economic or regulatory changes) using statistical analysis.
  • Deliver reports, insights, and recommendations to stakeholders to maximise the value and adoption of the baseline forecast.
  • Contribute to S&OP/IBP processes by providing key inputs, participating in alignment discussions, and supporting consensus forecast development where required.
  • Review and challenge inputs to long-term planning and AOP, using historical trends to validate growth assumptions.
  • Partner with Demand Business Partners to conduct root cause analysis of forecast errors, driving corrective actions and continuous improvement in forecast accuracy and bias.
  • Continuously enhance forecasting capabilities by testing and implementing new models, adopting standard methodologies, and supporting system development initiatives.

  • Baseline understanding of the end-to-end Supply Chain Planning processes; Supply Planning, Distribution Requirements Planning, Inventory Planning, Conversion, Logistics, Procurement and Customer Service
  • Demonstrated proficiency in statistics and/or forecasting methodologies with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts
  • Strong analytical, organizational and decision making skills
  • Good communication skills - verbal, written and presentation.
  • Proficient in MS applications e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook

Requirements

  • 4 years' experience working within the Demand and/or Supply Chain Planning process; Consumer Packaged Goods Industry preferred
  • Experience with advanced planning software with Supply Planning (SAP APO system and Business Intelligence/BW )
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in appropriate supply chain, mathematical, engineering, or business degree.
  • APICS CPIM / CSCP or equivalent desirable.
