About the role

Eden House are looking for a reliable and proactive Maintenance Person to support the safe and efficient running of our care home . You will be responsible for completing all statutory and regulatory compliance checks , carrying out routine maintenance tasks, and ensuring the building and grounds remain safe, welcoming, and well-maintained for our residents, staff, and visitors. Your work directly contributes to a safe, comfortable, and homely environment.

Responsibilities

  • Compliance Checks - completing and recording all required checks, including fire safety, water temperatures, emergency lighting, legionella, window restrictors, bed rails, and equipment safety.
  • Routine Maintenance - carrying out minor repairs, painting, basic plumbing, joinery, and general upkeep.
  • Health & Safety Support - ensuring the home meets regulatory standards and supporting audits and inspections.
  • Contractor Coordination - liaising with external engineers and tradespeople, ensuring work is completed safely and to a high standard.
  • Record Keeping - maintaining accurate logs, checklists, and documentation for CQC and internal audits.
  • Environmental Safety - ensuring outdoor areas, pathways, lighting, and gardens are safe and well-maintained.
  • Emergency Response - responding promptly to urgent maintenance issues to minimise disruption.

Requirements

  • Experience in a maintenance or facilities role (care home experience desirable).
  • Good understanding of health & safety , compliance checks , and safe working practices.
  • Practical skills in basic repairs, DIY, and general maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and maintain accurate records.
  • A friendly, helpful, and professional approach when interacting with residents and staff.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
