The Quality Assurance Specialist (QAS) is responsible for ensuring full compliance of Reworld Field Services (RFS) boiler and pressure vessel repair work with the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and National Board Inspection Code (NBIC) requirements. This includes oversight of all work executed under the NBIC "R" and ASME "S" and "U" Stamp programs held by Reworld Projects, LLC. The QAS verifies work performed by both Reworld employees and certified contractors, ensuring adherence to code standards , inspection protocols , and documentation requirements . This role identifies and resolves non-compliance issues in a timely and cost-effective manner while maintaining the integrity and trust associated with ASME and NBIC certifications . Given that pressure part failures are a leading cause of unplanned downtime in Energy-from-Waste (EfW) plants, this role plays a critical part in improving reliability through effective inspection , material verification , weld quality oversight , and proper installation practices . The QAS reports directly to the Quality Assurance Manager .
Responsibilities
- Implement the Reworld QA/QC Program across shop and field sites as scheduled
- Ensure all code requirements and specifications related to fabrication, assemblies, material control, storage, and examinations are met
- Verify purchase order language aligns with ASME code requirements during material receiving inspections
- Manage incoming and outgoing code materials, pressure and non-pressure part assemblies, and welding consumables (GMAW, GTAW, SMAW)
- Maintain liaison with Authorized Inspectors (AI) , clients, and client inspectors
- Support AI and client inspectors with on-site inspections and documentation reviews
- Assign required inspection hold points in coordination with the Authorized Inspector
- Notify AI of upcoming hold point inspections
- Conduct vendor surveillance inspections as needed
- Perform internal, including confined space entry , and external boiler inspections
- Monitor NDE activities to ensure weld quality meets code compliance
- Maintain required inspection and work completion records per code, specifications, and contract requirements
- Perform and document receiving inspections for code and non-code materials
- Initiate, review, and verify resolution of non-conformance reports
- Escalate code interpretation or specification conflicts to the QA Manager as needed
- Supervise subcontracted heat treatment, NDE, and other controlled process activities
- Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in ASME Section I, V, VIII Div. 1, IX and NBIC environments
- Minimum of 2 years of tube or pipe welding experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of inspection tools, procedures, and specialized equipment
- Demonstrated ability in technical report writing , organization, and presentation
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, self-directed approach
- Effective communication skills across all organizational levels

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Primarily field-based role with approximately 90% travel to support facility outages
- Work consists of approximately 90% field inspections and 10% office-based activities
- Requires extended 12-hour shifts, including consecutive days (up to 20 days), nights, weekends, and off-shift work
- Industrial work environment requiring OSHA-mandated PPE and safety training, including confined space entry
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding activities including walking, climbing, bending , and working on scaffolding and stairs
