Job Purpose: As a General Ledger Accountant, you will be responsible for recording, reconciling, and reporting financial transactions within the organization. You will maintain the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger, assist in the preparation of financial statements, and support internal and external audits.

Responsibilities

  • Recording Transactions : Record financial transactions, including journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll entries into the general ledger.
  • Reconciliation : Regularly reconcile ledger accounts, ensuring that debits and credits are balanced and that discrepancies are resolved promptly.
  • Month-End Close : Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including preparing adjusting journal entries and financial statements.
  • Financial Analysis : Analyze and review financial statements for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Audit Support : Collaborate with internal and external auditors by providing requested documentation, explanations, and supporting schedules.
  • Variance Analysis : Investigate and report on variances in financial data, identifying the root causes and proposing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Compliance : Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
  • Accounting Software : Utilize accounting software and other financial tools to maintain the general ledger efficiently.
  • Documentation : Maintain organized and accurate documentation of financial transactions and reconciliations.
  • Reporting : Prepare and distribute financial reports, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Process Improvement : Suggest and implement process improvements to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of financial reporting and general ledger maintenance.
  • Communication : Collaborate with other departments and teams to gather financial data and provide insights into the company's financial performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as CPA, CA, ACCA is a plus.
  • Proven experience of 6 to 8 years in accounting or finance, focusing on 2 to 4 years in general ledger management.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
