About the role

This individual is seen as an expert in both the oncology nursing clinical and informatics environment. This individual is responsible for the development and implementation of efficient and effective programs for competency validation, continuing education, workforce development, and workflows systematically across the oncology infusion area. This individual is responsible for collaborating with facility leaders and nurse leadership team to achieve best practices, educational excellence and implementation of current health system initiatives. This individual demonstrates the clinical expertise to provide appropriate care to oncology infusion patient populations and serves as an educational resource to the oncology interdisciplinary patient care team. The specialist will ensure systematic nursing practice that is evidence based across the oncology infusion service line and serve as an information systems management expert regarding oncology nursing documentation, and workflows in the electronic medical record. Participates and/or leads committees, councils and strategies as requested.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and oversight to the infusion nursing teams across the oncology infusion service line to ensure evidence based systematic nursing practice across the division.
  • Stays ahead of Oncology Nursing industry trends and ensures ongoing compliance with current and new regulatory standards. Leads the development, maintenance, and systemization of policies, job aides, and clinical services for areas of responsibility.
  • Continuously improve the delivery and outcomes of comprehensive, quality, personalized patient experience and in accordance with patient safety standards. Collaboration with leaders to identify opportunities and barriers for quality and service.

Requirements

  • Education
  • Bachelors Degree, Nursing (Required)
  • Masters Degree, Nursing/ Informatics Nursing (Preferred)
  • 2 years RN Oncology experience (Required)
  • 3-4 years Supervisor experience (Preferred)
  • Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) or licensed in compact state Upon Hire(Required) and
  • BLS/CPR/AED - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)
