About the role
We're a 35-person Manufacturing AI Company and our People Operations Manager is going on parental leave in late July-December. We're looking for someone to step in and keep things running - primarily on recruiting, but also across HR operations and office management. This is an execution role: you'll have full context and runbooks handed off to you, and you'll have the SVP of Finance as your point of escalation for anything strategic. We need someone who can pick things up fast, work independently, and hold processes together without much hand-holding.
Responsibilities
- Recruiting
- Own full-cycle hiring for open roles across the US and LATAM - sourcing, screening, running interview processes, coordinating references, managing offers
- Source proactively using LinkedIn RecruiterLite and Juicebox; we don't use agencies, so your ability to find and engage candidates directly matters
- Post new roles and set up interview processes in Ashby (job descriptions and interview processes provided by hiring managers)
- Manage all pipelines in Ashby, keeping stages accurate and candidates informed
- Run intake calls with hiring managers to get up to speed on new roles quickly
- Schedule and coordinate interviews across the team
- Run kick off calls and debriefs with the interview panel
- Keep the process moving - that means chasing hiring managers for feedback and not waiting for things to come to you
- HR Operations
- Own onboarding and offboarding end-to-end via Rippling, Justworks, laptops, and other systems
- Be the first point of contact for employee HR questions - benefits queries, policy questions, basic admin in Justworks
- Handle routine compliance tasks: I-9 verification, required notices, record-keeping
- Support benefits open enrollment communications
- Office & Events
- Keep the NYC office running: snacks, supplies, the basics
- Coordinate team happy hours and social events
- Own logistics for our company-wide onsite - venue, travel coordination, agenda support
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in recruiting and/or people operations, ideally at a fast-moving startup
- Proven ability to source and hire across a range of role types - technical, GTM, US and LATAM markets
- Strong organisational instincts and the confidence to hold a process together when no one is watching
- Comfortable working across ATS, HRIS and sourcing tools (we use Ashby, Justworks, Rippling, LinkedIn RecruiterLite and Juicebox)
- Someone who flags problems early and doesn't wait to be asked
- This role can be NYC based, or in one of our hubs: Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, or Toronto, Montreal.
