Job Description: Maintenance Operative Location: Copper Beech Care Home. Eastbourne Road, Ridgewood, Uckfield TN22 5ST Contract: Permanent Full-Time role Hours: 40 hours per week - Mon to Fri 9.00am - 5.00pm (flexible approach required to suit position.) Salary: £14.10 to £17.30 per hour dependent on experience *Full Driving License Required* Copper Beech is custom-built for a wide range of nursing care and residential needs, these can include post-operative care, convalescence, dementia and palliative care. Respite and long-term care packages are put together by experienced professionals and tailored to individual requirements. A purpose-built property has modern safety features, underfloor heating and is wheelchair accessible. Comfortable furniture is colour coordinated and the patio and garden areas are great for relaxing in. As an enhanced service to the residents, weekly GP visits are conducted at Copper Beech Care Home, enabling residents to receive regular, personalised medical reviews as part of the person-centred care. The home prepares delicious meals and snacks for residents to enjoy in the social dining area or in the comfort of the privacy of the resident's room. There are always plenty of favourites on the menu, but the staff also talk to each resident on arrival about likes and dislikes, and any special dietary requirements. An active lifestyle is supported, with carers helping residents to access the hobbies and interests that inspire them and there are many activities to take part in such as arts and crafts, bingo and games. As a Maintenance Operative, your primary responsibility will be ensuring that our facilities remain fully functional. You will maintain buildings and equipment effectively while complying with all relevant Bupa Standard Operating Procedures, legislation, and industry best practices. Your role is crucial in ensuring our accommodation meets Bupa's cultural and brand values. You'll help us make health happen by: Ensuring that all health and safety and compliance checks are carried out using the provided digital systems as per the timescales directed by Bupa Standard Operating Procedures and by Bupa compliance management tools and software Action and close any tasks attributed to the Maintenance Manager or home highlighted on Bupa compliance management tools and software Ensure that safety and cleanliness within the care home and grounds is to the satisfaction of Environmental Health, local Fire Authority requirements, Legionella Risk Assessment requirements and Health & Safety regulations etc Ensure that all necessary maintenance and repair tasks are completed to a high standard, in a timely manner and offer value for money whilst ensuring internal decoration continues to meet the organisations vision regarding first impressions Ensure regular review of residents' preferences in relation to their personal space is documented and actioned Report defects, obtain quotes and manage repairs using Bupa approved contractors, complying at all times with Bupa's Standard Operating Procedures Report irreparable defects to Home Manager or Property/Maintenance Manager as appropriate Manage Care Home elements of any refurbishment programme and capex programme of works ensuring minimal disruption to residents, visitors and staff Ensure that all tools and equipment are maintained and safely secured at all times Assist with induction of new colleagues with regard to the operation of emergency exits, fire points and evacuation procedures, keeping a record of all instructions given as required by the Home Manager, especially where the use of equipment is involved Although you will be located within a home there may be a requirement to provide maintenance support to a local Care Homes within a reasonable distance (no more than 1hr from normal place of work) as and when required to provide a comprehensive regional maintenance support. Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role: A good understanding of building services including, heating, hot and cold-water distribution, ventilation, electrical distribution, and plumbing Sound understanding of building fabric and its maintenance Practical experience of planned maintenance systems and record keeping Knowledge of relevant statutory requirements and experience of compliance A full driving licence A building/electrical/plumbing qualification (City & Guilds, BTEC, ONC, HNC etc) or a minimum of 3 years hand on experience in property maintenance and general repairs where possible Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team Computer literate Good Customer service skills Be flexible to meet changing demands within the care home Practical ability and experience in painting and decorating Benefit
