About the role
This position is located in the Facilities/Maintenance Branch, Support Division, Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department, Naval Station Great Lakes, IL. The purpose of this position is to maintain and repair facilities and equipment, as well as facility renovations and support of special events and programs under the jurisdiction of the MWR Department. Requires use of the basic manual and power tools; such as hammers, screwdrivers, chisels, tape measures, table saws, drills, snow removal equipment and other related tools that may apply to perform assigned duties. Able to read written direction and understand verbal direction and ask questions for clarification if a task is not understandable from a written or verbal direction. Experience in or willing to learn the operations of heavy equipment, including but not limited to, a forklift license with a minimum rating of 6,000 pounds. Ability to care for, check fluids and determine the proper operation of a vehicle.
