Project Name: Hazard Assessment Program Project Description: Under the State of California's new cross-connection control regulations, the SFPUC must review all service connections (~188,000) to properties in San Francisco, as well as the eight other water systems under SFPUC's control, to evaluate potential hazards to the public drinking water distribution system arising from activities on user premises. In addition, the new regulations require the installation of backflow prevention assemblies on about 4,200 fire service connections and upgrading backflow protection on temporary connections to fire hydrants for miscellaneous uses, such as construction. SFPUC has submitted a plan to the State Water Resources Control Board with deadlines for completing hazard assessments by 2049, ensuring backflow prevention assemblies on all dedicated fire services by 2044, and upgrading temporary protection on hydrants by mid-2027. Position Summary: Under general direction, the Utility Services Representative Supervisor in the Water Quality Division will supervise staff performing responsible and specialized journey-level clerical duties in connection with the Hazard Assessment Program. The Hazard Assessment Program was established to integrate new regulatory compliance measures outlined in the Cross Connection Control Policy Handbook (CCCPH) released by the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) into our existing operations. This position is dedicated to the Hazard Assessment Program and will provide support for activities focused on communication with customers and external entities regarding compliance requirements with the new regulations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Plans, assigns, supervises and is responsible for the work of subordinate personnel to assume conformance with existing policies, procedures, rules, and regulations Evaluates the work performance of employees and/or reviews the evaluations made by other supervisory personnel to ensure that performance standards are maintained Oversees and is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of a wide variety of records and reports on Hazard Assessment Program activities and operations Performs difficult clerical procedures and practices involving the exercise of individual judgment and knowledge of applicable laws, rules and regulations, rates and departmental procedures Answers inquiries from the general public Answers departmental inquiries relating to the Hazard Assessment Program's activities Assists in resolving a wide variety of complaints Reviews daily activities and resolves day-to-day problems as they apply to the Hazard Assessment Program and as encountered by subordinate personnel Instructs new personnel in office activities and procedures; supervises training for assigned activities Researches, reviews, and makes recommendations concerning issues and actions affecting the Hazard Assessment Program Interfaces with staff at all levels and representatives of other departments to consult, research, and advise on matters, including special projects delegated by the administrator of the Hazard Assessment Program Perform related duties as assigned Work Location: 1657 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA, 94010 Schedule: Full-time | Monday-Friday *This position requires a valid driver's license
