About the role

The Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Bath is seeking to appoint a lecturer in electronic engineering to deliver high-quality teaching and research in microelectronics and embedded systems design. About the role You will teach aspects of digital systems, microelectronics (including integrated circuit design) and embedded systems design in both lectures and computational classes, across all years of our undergraduate degrees in Electronic and Electrical Engineering and Computer Systems Engineering, with more specialised units in Advanced Microelectronics and Embedded Systems in the final years, maintaining the University's high standards in teaching and learning, and its inclusive and supportive learning environment. You will develop an internationally leading independent research programme in microelectronics and embedded systems design. Your research should be aligned with one of the following research centres from the Faculty of Engineering and Design, Institute for the Augmented Human (IAH), Centre for Digital, Manufacturing & Design (The Foundry), Centre for Bioengineering & Biomedical Technologies (CBio). You will be supported to contribute at an appropriate level to the administration, leadership, and management of the Department's activities. About you At Bath we offer an exceptional environment for research teaching and learning and we wish to support you in reaching your potential for internationally leading research, in the broad field of microelectronics and embedded systems applied to electronic and electrical engineering. We would be interested to hear from you if your research and teaching interests lie in advanced microelectronics design of devices and/or circuits in the following areas: Integrated circuit design of CMOS circuits including circuit design, simulation, layout and application of deep submicron technologies Embedded systems design and algorithms for embedded software systems. Design of micro-electro-mechanical systems including sensors, amplifiers, mixed signal circuits, data converters, filters and digital to analog conversion. Digital Design including programmable devices (FPGAs and CPLDs) and processor design. Application and skills in electronic design automation software for circuit design, integrated circuits, simulation, hardware description languages, synthesis, layout and process flows. You should hold a PhD in Electronic & Electrical Engineering (or a closely related subject) and be able to demonstrate the potential to develop an internationally leading research programme, to acquire significant funding from UK and international sources, and to produce high quality publications.
