About the role
As a Fabrication Engineer, you will be responsible for building and integrating innovative in-cabin audio proof-of-concept systems within vehicle environments. You will collaborate with global engineering, design, and product teams to deliver cutting-edge automotive audio experiences for HARMAN's premium brands. Responsibilities
- Build, install, and integrate audio systems and components into proof-of-concept vehicles
- Design and fabricate custom parts, brackets, wiring harnesses, and system layouts
- Perform vehicle tear-down, assembly, wiring, and electrical troubleshooting
- Conduct audio system bring-up, testing, and basic analysis
- Support UX testing, feedback, and continuous product refinement
- Maintain and update system benches and concept vehicles
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, design, and product teams
- Support development and documentation of fabrication and integration standards
- Assist in CAD reviews (CATIA, Rhino, etc.) and prototype development (e.g., 3D printing)
- Assemble and validate electronic components and circuit boards
- Support global product integration and technical problem-solving
- Perform fabrication using shop tools (cutting, drilling, grinding, coating, etc.)
- Support events, demonstrations, and showcase setups
- What You Need to Be Successful
- 5+ years of experience in fabrication, prototyping, or product development
- 3+ years of experience with analog/digital electronics (preferably audio systems)
- Hands-on experience with automotive systems integration and vehicle builds
- Strong knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, wiring, and troubleshooting
- Experience with automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN, MOST, USB)
- Experience working with mechanical fabrication, materials, and shop equipment
- Familiarity with infotainment, telematics, or amplifier systems
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Bonus Points if You Have
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Experience tuning automotive audio systems for optimal sound performance
- Exposure to ADAS systems and sensor integration
- CAD experience (CATIA preferred)
- Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel)
- Experience writing technical documentation and reports
