The Registered Sonographer Performs a variety of highly skilled technical procedures in the application of diagnostic ultrasound for the imaging of normal and abnormal structures of the human body. Performs duties associated with processing patients, which may include scheduling, registration, file management and computer processing skills. Complies with all CHS and Imaging policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines. Participates in the training of students and staff as assigned. Maintains ARDMS/ARRT registry by obtaining required CEU's bi-annually. Enhances personal and professional growth through participation in educational opportunities. Performs a variety of highly skilled technical procedures for patients of all ages to obtain diagnostic information regarding heart function, structure and valves and circulation. R.N. provides procedural sedation, and performs a variety of job responsibilities' related to pharmacological stress procedures, contrast administration, and medication administration as order by Cardiologist, Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, or M.D. Promotes Carilion Clinic Culture of Excellence and quality service through team work, respectful communication, maintenance of a professional environment, partnership with those we serve and anticipation of patient/customer needs. Prepares patient of all ages for examinations and explains procedures correlating patient history with test to be performed. Completes order for procedures. Operates highly specialized, technical equipment to obtain quality images according to ICAEL standards. Registered Nurse performs RN duties, and will complete a 16 week orientation, with nine months of intense Ultrasound Principles, and Instrumentation, and will perform Echoes and pursue RDCS, or CCI credentials. Performs duties associated with processing patients, which may include scheduling, report management, and computer processing skills. Complies with all Carilion, and Echo policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines. Assists with training new staff. Provides in services for Echo staff CME credits, and instructs students, physicians, and other hospital and non hospital staff as assigned, or requested by Carilion Clinic. Maintains ARDMS registry by obtaining required CEU's bi-annually. Enhances personal and professional growth through participation in educational opportunities. May be required to administer ECHO contrast as defined . ( area specific- see competency) Performs non-invasive peripheral vascular testing to evaluate the hemodynamic of patients arterial, venous and cerebrovascular circulation by utilizing Doppler Ultrasound, Plethysmography, Duplex Imaging, and sound spectrum analysis according to the policy and procedure manual of the Vascular Lab. Interprets exam results to quantify the extent of patient's disease by utilizing established diagnostic parameters. Compiles preliminary reports to communicate test results to referring physicians by way of Syngo and EMR. Prepares patients of all ages for examinations and explains procedures correlating patient history with test to be performed. Completes order for procedures. Operates highly specialized, technical equipment to obtain quality images according to IAC Vascular Testing standards. Complies with all Carilion and Vascular Lab policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines. What We Require: Education: High school diploma. Experience: 1-2 years aquatic experience. Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: None required. Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP.
