$159,288.30Job DescriptionBasic Purpose :Typical Functions :Develops and administers a program of preventive dentistry and delivery of treatment to consumers.Participates in the integration of the dental program with other programs of the institution.Determines the oral health of the patient and the adjacent structures through the use of visual, digital, and x-ray examinations.Recommends a treatment plan based on pathology and examination and completed with the necessary operative procedures to eliminate or control such pathology within agency guideline.Evaluates oral pathology and makes appropriate referrals to oral surgery referral clinics.Administers prophylaxis and instruction in oral hygiene.Instructs and assures records, maintenance, and care of equipment and clinic sites is conducted.Ensures clients' dental needs are met prior to departing the state institution.Assists with facility planning and equipment, supplies, and staffing needs.Reviews and recommends contracts.Trains, supervises, and leads dentists, hygienists, dental assistants, and other dental employees.Collaborates with other state agencies and externally to benefit consumers of dental health care.Level Descriptor :This is the full performance level.
