About the role
Under Supervisor's direction, the Manufacturing Lead assists employees and acts as an area lead by determining, organizing, and delegating work assignments. The incumbent also schedules and reviews accuracy of work in assigned area and assists supervisor in safety and continuous improvement efforts. Duties & Responsibilities: Coordinates, supports, and provides quality training and day to day work direction for area employees to meet established safety, quantity and quality standards. Assists in coordinating and prioritizing work during peak production periods and ensures adequate coverage/back-up as needed. Assists area supervisor in managing work area goals and coordinates the "how" of daily standards. Responsible for inventory control, troubleshooting production problems, and initiating corrective action regarding quality, quantity, equipment and/or procedures. May also make recommendations for improvements. Upon supervisor's request, provides employee performance input, makes recommendations for work assignments, and may assist area supervisor in setting individual performance goals. Will also assist supervisor with special projects and reports as requested. Assists with employee engagement in process improvement efforts and in building/maintaining team camaraderie.
Requirements
- Demonstrated leadership skills, formal or informal, and ability to effectively communicate work information and provide training to others.
- Ability to deal with some ambiguity and notify supervisor of potential employee relations issues. Exhibits leadership potential.
- Ability to learn technical aspects of assigned production area and to inspect assigned work, including first article inspection for others (may include micrometers, gages, or
- special equipment). Must also be able to troubleshoot and problem-solve various technical issues and maintain a safe work environment.
- Familiarity with relevant AOPs and MOPs, various systems, including ERP, ISO, PCA, ECA, Cal, and NCM, and ability to prioritize OFIs, fixture requests/repair, etc. Also should be able to interpret blueprints, method sheets and rough draft sketches.
