JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Policy- Understand and apply appropriate polices and procedures for work flow, testing, and/or methodology. Recognize and/or troubleshoot significant findings. Develop and maintain efficient internal communication processes to support the activities of the department/program. Openly communicate across many departments regarding clinical, patient care, physical and/or material resources. Keep key leadership, administrative staff and other stakeholders fully informed of projected and actual developments in a timely manner. Prioritize multiple requests for information. Assemble and distribute material for project communications if necessary. Compliance- Assist in the maintenance, oversight, and/or management of compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, such as JCAHO, HIPAA, and/or other accreditation standards. May participate in activities related to organizational, regulatory, and governmental compliance. Equipment Maintenance- Assist with maintenance of various pieces of equipment. Help maintain/order inventory. Keep work environment well-organized. May troubleshoot and/or correct erroneous results or problems with equipment. May provide appropriate safety/quality monitoring checks and document as assigned. Lab Specific Duties- Tissue processing, embedding, microtomy (paraffin and frozen sections). May qualify for tissue grossing under CLIA. Basic understanding of special histochemical stains and troubleshooting. Basic identification of tissue types, artifacts, etc. Basic experience with Cytology preparations and staining. May have experience with Immunohistochemistry. Work collaboratively/cooperatively with others to achieve goals. Proactively adjust one's style and/or efforts to complement those of others. Develop positive working relationships with peers/colleagues. Share knowledge and/or provide support for team members. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Associate's or Bachelor's degree in related field 0+ years of work experience in a related job discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience Preferred: Histology Tech (ASCP) Certification Primary Location Burnet Campus Schedule Full time Shift Evening (United States of America) Department Pathology Employee Status Regular FTE 1 Weekly Hours 40 *Expected Starting Pay Range *Annualized pay may vary based on FTE status $25.82 - $32.28
