The SOE and minimum qualifications for this position is: Must possess a valid state and government driver's license and be capable of operating required vehicles. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Effort: Work is performed in tiring or uncomfortable positions for long periods of time requiring frequent standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and crouching. Work may be performed on top of, under, and in tight compartments of vehicles which may be cramped or require awkward positions. Items frequently lifted weigh up to 40 pounds. Strenuous effort is exerted to lift, push, pull, or position parts. Heavier items may require the assistance of fellow employees or lifting devices such as jacks, hoists, and cranes. Large vehicles may require the use of ladders or work platforms to accomplish the required task. Working Conditions: Work may be performed both inside and outside exposing the individual to drafts, changing temperatures, noise, and bad weather. Employees are exposed to irritations and discomfort from dust, grease, heat, and fumes and subject to cuts, burns, chemical irritations, bruises, electrical shock, and injuries from falls while repairing, positioning, and moving equipment. Employees follow prescribed safety practices and use recommended safety equipment appropriate for the job and work area as directed by the supervisor. These safety items may be uncomfortable to wear or use and may be worn or used for long periods. Types of protective clothing and equipment include, but are not limited to the following: ear, eye, respiratory, foot protection, and protective clothing (gloves, apron, coveralls, etc.). Employee will be required to wear approved hearing protective devices and an audiometric test will be conducted, as necessary, when working near or around noise hazardous areas, machinery, or equipment. Emergency Employee: The incumbent of this position has been designated as an emergency employee. The term "Emergency Employee" is used to designate those employees who must report to work in emergency situations. Emergency dismissal or closure announcements do not apply to these employees. The employees who occupy these positions may be required to report for duty in any situation that prevents significant numbers of employees in the local area from reporting for work on time or which requires agencies to close all or part of their activities.
