Mechanical Manager

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical process systems for water and wastewater treatment plants at concept, functional, preliminary, and detailed stages, including screening, physical-chemical, biological treatment, blower, odour control, disinfection, and sludge treatment equipment
• Design various pumping systems for water, wastewater, and sludge treatment plants through all design phases
• Design ancillary systems such as chemical feed, mechanical ventilation, and drainage systems from concept to detailed design
• Prepare General Arrangement and equipment layout drawings to support project requirements
• Develop mechanical process equipment and pump specifications to ensure compliance and performance
• Perform mechanical equipment and pipe sizing and calculations to meet engineering standards
• Review and evaluate vendor submissions to ensure technical compliance and quality
• Coordinate with civil, structural, electrical, building services, and instrumentation & control disciplines to integrate designs
• Lead meetings and discussions with clients, contractors, and vendors to drive project progress and resolve issues
• Provide engineering support for bids and proposals to secure new projects
• Support construction phases with engineering expertise to ensure design intent is met
• Provide engineering support during testing and commissioning to verify system performance
• Prepare project cost estimates for clients to facilitate budgeting and decision-making
• Manage design and project execution for proposals and projects primarily focused on mechanical/process scope
• Required competencies and certifications
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration with Professional Engineers Board Singapore (moved from Preferred as it is a professional certification essential for core duties)
• Preferred competencies and qualifications
• University engineering degree in mechanical engineering
• Minimum 10-15 years' experience in mechanical design of municipal and industrial wastewater treatment
• Ability to work independently to produce project deliverables within timelines
• Experience leading and guiding a team of engineers and performing QA/QC on their designs
• Proficient written and oral communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities
