White Oak Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for our Float Pool II, who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing As a Float Pool Registered Nurse, you will: - Develop a plan of care according to patient population - Identify impending changes in patient condition accurately and initiates corrective action - Mentor students, colleagues and team members in patient-centered care - Conduct purposeful rounding from patient and family perspective - Conduct efficient literature searches and applies findings appropriately to practice - Identify opportunities for improvement in clinical care and participate in change of practice based on evidence. i.e. participates in wound prevalence study - Create a work environment that promotes cooperation, respect and trust among team members - Act with integrity, consistency and respect for different views and communication styles - Engage effectively in teamwork and team building processes - Participate in error analyses and system/process improvements - Use established safety resources for professional development and to help ensure safe practices, e.g., PDCA huddle, restraint concurrent audit, falls huddle, and infection control reports - Participate in the collection of data on clinical unit to improve care delivery and outcomes, e.g., patient care audits, pain reassessment and documentation, and care planning - Actively seek information about quality initiatives in own organization and care settings and applies information to practice - Use electronic resources and databases to enhance knowledge and support best practices - Act as a super user or provides "Just in Time" training to end-users - Adhere to ANA documentation standards and AHC documentation policies; and ensures that the "patient's story" is reflected in the documentation - Demonstrate purposeful, informed, outcome-focused (results-oriented) thinking that is guided by professional standards, ethics codes and laws - Apply critical reasoning and judgment in patient care delivery - Use critical thinking skills to make clinical judgments and individualize patient care - Delegate non-nursing duties appropriately (to appropriate person at appropriate time) - Demonstrate efficient use of resources (materials and time) - Utilize care delivery tools in order to deliver safe, timely care and interventions to patient (e.g., SBAR communication tool, POSS scale, RRT, interpreter services) Qualifications include: - Current Maryland State nursing license - Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required - ACLS, PALS, NRP as required by specialty area - Graduate of an accredited nursing program - Passing score on NCLEX - Minimum 1 year of RN experience required - Two years acute care experience as well as required experience in Intermediate Care, ICU, Cardiac Step Down and/or Progressive Care. Work Schedule: This is a per diem position with a rate of $60/hour. - Employment Type: Per Diem - Hours per Week: 24 hrs./week - Typical Daily Schedule: 7am-7pm Two shifts a week - Shift Type: Day - Weekend Requirements: 1full weekend per month - Holiday Requirements: Required Follow company holiday calendar - Shift Differential Eligible: Yes Pay Range: If the salary range is not displayed or if the position is Per Diem (with a fixed rate), salary discussions will take place during the screening process.
