About the role

The Department of Information Systems Technology, an applied research lab within the Institute for Simulation as the University of Central Florida, is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Application Developer to join their development team. Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy new applications using C#/.NET (.NET Core and .NET Framework), REACT, and SQL.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance existing applications to ensure optimal performance and user experience.
  • Write clean, scalable, and well-documented code.
  • Collaborate with other developers, IT personnel, and non-technical stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Lead code reviews, testing, and deployment processes.
  • Manage source control using GitHub and follow best practices for versioning and collaboration.
  • Monitor and manage application performance and availability on Microsoft Azure and Windows Server environments.
  • Help mentor junior developers and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 4 years of relevant experience; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 8 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6) .
  • 5+ years of current professional experience in software development.
  • Strong proficiency in .NET (Core and Framework).
  • Extensive experience with SQL Server and writing complex queries and stored procedures.
  • Proficient with GitHub for version control and collaboration.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services and deployment pipelines.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical team members.
  • The most successful candidates may possess the following qualities:
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to high-quality code.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining large-scale, multi-user systems.
  • Prior experience with Cold Fusion.
  • Solid understanding of Windows Server administration and application hosting.
  • Experience in front-end technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
  • Experience in R programming is a plus.

  • The anticipated salary range for this position is $64,518 to $90,000. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
  • This is a Contract and Grant (C&G) funded position. Employment is subject to availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.
