Project Engineer I / II / III - New Power Generation Construction Position may be filled at Project Engineer Level I, II, or III based on qualifications and experience Job Summary The Project Engineer supports the engineering and construction execution of large‑scale power generation projects within the Generation Electric Projects & Construction organization, with a primary focus on mega projects supporting data center infrastructure . This role is responsible for managing engineering activities across the project life cycle, from conceptual engineering through detailed design, construction support, commissioning, and transition to operations. The Project Engineer applies engineering project management principles to ensure engineered products are safe, constructible, cost‑effective, and aligned with project scope, schedule, and budget objectives. This position works closely with Project Managers, project controls, internal stakeholders, Architect/Engineer (AE) firms, subject matter experts, and contractors to drive engineering quality, mitigate risk, and support overall project success. Candidates will be hired at Project Engineer I, II, or III level depending on experience, technical depth, and leadership capability. Core Responsibilities (All Levels) Promotes and ensures a safe working environment in both office and field settings Manages engineering scope and supports detailed design through all phases of the project life cycle Applies engineering project management practices during conceptual engineering, detailed design, constructability reviews, change control, testing, acceptance, and transition to operations Supports development and decomposition of product scope into a constructible project scope , including WBS definition, validation, and control Ensures engineering deliverables meet company standards, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements Monitors engineering contractor and AE firm performance for scope, schedule, cost, and quality Coordinates engineering reviews, document control, and drawing reviews with internal stakeholders Applies product and project risk management techniques to reduce technical, schedule, and cost risk Supports project cost development, forecasting, and engineering input to capital estimates Works closely with the Project Manager and project controls team to support schedule, cost, and change management Effectively communicates engineering status, issues, and performance metrics to project leadership Utilizes engineering and project management tools, PMIS, and performance dashboards to monitor progress Assists with RFIs, technical resolutions, and engineering issue close‑out Level Differentiation Project Engineer I Role Focus: Learning, technical execution support, and foundational project engineering Applies fundamental engineering principles and standard procedures under supervision Supports engineering document development, reviews, and coordination Assists with constructability reviews and design issue resolution Develops working knowledge of PMI / PMBOK and company project management processes Requires close guidance from senior engineers or the Project Manager Project Engineer II Role Focus: Independent project engineering execution and coordination Independently manages defined portions of engineering scope on assigned projects Leads coordination with AE firms and internal stakeholders for assigned deliverables Evaluates engineering options, technical risks, and recommends solutions Manages engineering inputs to project cost, schedule, and risk reviews Demonstrates increasing leadership, communication, and decision‑making capability Project Engineer III Role Focus: Senior technical leadership and complex engineering oversight Provides technical leadership for large, complex, or high‑visibility power generation projects Leads and coordinates engineering activities across multiple disciplines and firms Mentors and provides technical guidance to Project Engineer I and II staff Serves as a key engineering advisor to Project Managers and senior stakeholders Applies advanced engineering judgment to optimize design, cost, constructability, and schedule Drives continuous improvement and engineering best practices across the organization Required Qualifications Project Engineer I Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an ABET‑accredited university or international equivalent Project Engineer II Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from ABET-accredited university or international equivalent Minimum 4-7 years of engineering experience in utility, construction, or industrial environments Project Engineer III Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from ABET-accredited university or international equivalent Minimum 10+ years of engineering experience in utility‑based or power generation environments All Levels Knowledge of standard computer applications (Word, Ex
