Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of condition monitoring programs to strengthen asset health visibility
- Embed and maintain structural integrity strategies across all field assets
- Drive defect reporting, action management and defect elimination, ensuring issues are captured, addressed and prevented from recurring
- Analyse the performance of draglines, shovels and excavators to identify trends, optimise reliability and deliver long‑term asset improvements
- Develop and maintain reliability and maintenance dashboards, providing clear insights into asset performance and machine health
- Support and execute reliability engineering initiatives, including root cause analysis and defect elimination programs
- Partner with Engineering teams and OEMs to investigate failures and refine service strategies to avoid future breakdowns
- Align PRTs and maintenance job cards to ensure field execution accurately reflects the intended maintenance strategy and system standards
- Lead strategy and maintenance tactic reviews, ensuring critical assets have effective, up‑to‑date lifecycle plans
- Contribute to and champion continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance and engineering teams
- To be successful you will have the following:
- Mechanical or Electrical trade qualifications and / or tertiary qualification in relevant engineering discipline e.g. Reliability / Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronics / Condition Monitoring / Asset Management
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a Reliability Engineer
- In depth knowledge relating to the maintenance of draglines, shovels and excavators
- Proven capability in maintenance systems, failure analysis and asset health program development
- Previous experience with SAP or a similar ERP will be desirable
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identify and address mechanical challenges

We are seeking a Field Reliability Engineer to join our maintenance team at Capcoal Surface Operations. As the Field Reliability Engineer, you will report to the Maintenance Planning & Engineering Superintendent and will act as the site's lead specialist for reliability, asset health and maintenance strategy across our draglines, shovels and excavators. You will drive improved equipment performance through condition monitoring, defect elimination, root cause analysis and machine health management, ensuring our most critical field assets operate safely, efficiently and predictably. You will also oversee the continuous improvement of maintenance systems and standards, leading the development and execution of strategies that enhance structural integrity, reduce downtime and deliver sustained asset performance.
