Responsibilities

  • As a Project Engineer in the SCADA team, you'll play a central role in delivering major modernisation programmes across the SPD network. This is a critical role in maintaining reliable operational visibility, communication routes and overall system performance across Primary and Grid substations.
  • You'll work closely with the Operations Control Centre (OCC), wider engineering teams and external suppliers to ensure the effective delivery, configuration and support of the SCADA systems that keep the network running safely and efficiently.

  • Respond to SCADA faults and defects, working closely with the OCC to optimise operational performance.
  • Configure, test and commission SCADA systems, including on‑site activities.

Requirements

  • HNC/D in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience within the construction and operations of electricity networks
  • Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
  • Experience working with SCADA systems on electrical power networks.
  • Good understanding of industry‑standard SCADA protocols and protocol‑emulation tools.
  • Transmission or Distribution network operational experience.
  • Ability to analyse complex engineering issues and deliver effective technical solutions.
  • Knowledge of network data, business systems and network‑management tools.
  • Essential: A valid UK driving licence is required, as this role involves frequent travel between sites

Project Engineer - System Monitoring Salary £45,400 - £56,750 per annum plus strong benefits package and excellent career progression opportunities/support. Location: Any office base across the Distribution licence area in Scotland - including Telferton (Edinburgh), Glenrothes, Bonnybridge, Cambuslang, Kilmarnock, Dumfries and Galashiels.
