About the role

We are seeking a skilled, collaborative, and student-centered Special Education Teacher to provide traditional push-in and pull-out support for middle school students with IEPs. This teacher will deliver targeted instruction, support students in accessing grade-level content, manage a caseload, and collaborate closely with general education teachers, families, service providers, and school leadership. Responsibilities

  • Provide push-in and pull-out instructional support for students with IEPs in reading, writing, mathematics, and other content areas as needed
  • Deliver specially designed instruction aligned to student IEP goals, accommodations, and grade-level standards
  • Support students in accessing rigorous classroom instruction through differentiation, scaffolding, and targeted intervention
  • Use small-group and individualized instruction to address student needs and accelerate growth
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive classroom practices and student success
  • Help students build independence, confidence, academic skills, and self-advocacy
  • IEP Implementation & Caseload Management
  • Manage a student caseload, ensuring IEP goals, services, accommodations, and supports are implemented with fidelity
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals aligned to student needs and progress data
  • Collect and analyze student data to adjust instruction and track progress toward goals
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to student performance, services, progress monitoring, and compliance
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute meaningfully to goal-setting, progress discussions, and family communication
  • Collaboration & Curriculum Support
  • Partner with general education teachers to plan accommodations, modifications, interventions, and instructional supports
  • Consult with school personnel, specialists, and service providers to coordinate services for students
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams to review student data and align supports across classrooms
  • Support co-teaching or in-class support models as needed
  • Family Communication & School Community
  • Build strong, proactive relationships with students and families
  • Communicate regularly with families about student progress, strengths, needs, and supports
  • Partner with families to support students' academic, social, and emotional growth
  • Professional Responsibilities
  • Maintain strong organizational systems and meet professional deadlines and expectations
  • Participate in intellectual preparation, coaching cycles, classroom observations, and feedback conversations
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and actively seek feedback to improve practice
  • Align your work with school-wide priorities and strategic initiatives

Requirements

  • Deep belief in the limitless potential of all students and commitment to helping them thrive as global citizens.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required.
  • Pennsylvania teaching certification in Special Education or actively working toward certification.
  • Experience working in urban school communities and a commitment to build
