Acoustics Consultant (1 to 4 years)

Responsibilities

• Perform acoustical analysis and modeling for building and environmental projects.
• Conduct site measurements and testing using industry-standard equipment.
• Prepare technical reports and recommendations for design teams and clients.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to integrate acoustical solutions.
• Support permitting and compliance documentation throughout project phases.
• The position is hybrid where the staff are in-person three days a week (minimum) and have the option to work remotely two days a week. The optional remote workdays of the week are currently Monday and Friday. These guidelines are reassessed periodically.
• Compensation and Benefits
• Approximate Base Salary - $75,000 to $98,000
• Paid overtime at 1.0 times hourly rate
• Competitive end-of-year discretionary bonus based on company/team/personal performance

Coffman Engineers is seeking a talented and self-motivated Acoustical Engineer/Consultant with 1-4 years of experience to join our Bay Area team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive acoustical consulting services-from initial feasibility studies through design, permitting, and construction support. We're looking for someone enthusiastic about collaboration, eager to grow within a multidisciplinary environment, and ready to bring energy and creativity to every project. Bachelor's degree in a technical field related to acoustics (Acoustical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, etc.). 1-4 years of experience in acoustical consulting. Proficiency with SoundPLAN (preferred). Ability to perform acoustical measurements using appropriate testing equipment. Experience working in a multidisciplinary setting (preferred). Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a collaborative mindset. Motivation to learn and adopt the latest technologies and practices. Strong time management and organizational skills. Ability to assist with design development and project reporting.
