Responsibilities

  • Manage pre-award grant processes from call development to award, including grant review, budget assessment, and funding decisions support.

  • Maintain accurate grant databases, reporting records, and research support systems.
  • Support the unit in KPI monitoring, management reporting, and stakeholder reporting.
  • Provide secretariat support for grant panel meetings, committees, and research engagement activities.
  • Organise and support research support events, workshops, and initiatives that promote funding awareness, collaboration, and capability building across the research community.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by reporting officer.

Requirements

  • A university degree in any discipline.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in research grant administration, project management, or a related role in a higher education, research, or public sector environment.
  • Strong understanding of administrative processes, compliance requirements, and policy-driven work environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to prepare documents, manage data, and produce clear reports and presentations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with faculty, researchers, and administrative stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and numerical ability, with high attention to detail and accuracy in handling data and financial information.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies and ensure compliance with institutional and funding agency requirements.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Adaptable, proactive, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.

The Research Support and Grants Management Unit manages pre- and post- award administration of internal and external research grants, enabling NIE faculty to secure research funding and administer grants effectively in compliance with funding and institutional requirements. The unit also oversees all Research Support functions in capacity building faculty staff. This is a contract position till 31 Mar 2028.
