Job Title: Area Risk Manager II Department: Legal, Compliance & Audit Country: United States of America State/Province: New Jersey City: Jersey City Full/Part Time: Full time Job Summary: Under general supervision, responsible for promoting, training and educating management and commercial drivers in safe practices in accordance with Federal regulations, company policy, and industry best practices. Responsible for consulting in the development and implementation of training programs for existing accounts and driver safety compliance. Audit and report on existing facilities within the organization to ensure safe work practices and compliance with company policies and procedures, state and Federal regulations regarding worker, workplace and environmental safety. Job Description: Key Responsibilities: - Research and assess proper use, selection, and limitations of major safeguarding devices. - Audit existing accounts to determine that equipment, proper record keeping, and driver work practices are in compliance with state and federal regulations and company policies at each account. Follow up with managers regarding the proper documentation of safety related events, training briefings and driver disciplinary procedures. - Coordinating activities and containment actions in the event of accidents; advising on regulations and safety practices. - Develop and deliver training content for safety orientation to instruct employees on the safe operation and handling of company machinery, products, or raw materials; auditing employees or processing for compliance with safety standards periodically. - Ensure completion of driver road tests, drug tests and DOT physicals for new drivers in Orientation. Potential to set up EFA and Smith System. - Implement and enforce company safety and compliance policies with respect to applicable government regulations, laws, and ordinances pertaining to the safety, health and welfare of company employees and the public. - Investigate causes of accidents, injuries, or illnesses; determining cause(s); preparing reports of findings and solutions for minimizing or preventing recurrence and implementing changes or improvements designed to prevent future incidents. - Make recommendations on safety events for possible changes to preventability ruling or DOT reportable rating as facts dictate. - Maintain specialized programs, procedures, and practices that enhance and improve the efficient operation of the Compliance department which includes, but not limited to, Hours of Service, Roadside Inspection, Hazmat, OSHA, citations, drug testing and driver qualification files.
