The Position The Employment Group at A&L Goodbody is seeking to hire a Senior Knowledge & Practice Development lawyer, a unique role in the Irish employment law market, who will be centrally involved in the Group's business development initiatives and a champion of learning and knowledge development. The Team ALG's market-leading, top-tier employment practice group is one of the largest dedicated employment practices in Ireland, with deep expertise across the broad spectrum of legal areas relevant to employers in Ireland. We are a trusted adviser to many of Ireland's largest employers, working collaboratively with in-house counsel, HR and ER departments, senior management teams and corporate boards on the full spectrum of HR and industrial relations matters, as well as crisis management. We provide innovative, pragmatic and commercial solutions to complex HR issues in the context of the most high-profile contentious and non-contentious matters. The Role The role is an important and unique role in the Employment Group, has a broad remit and significant responsibility and is a senior position within the team. We are open to candidates looking to work a five or four day working week. In this role, you will also be a member of the Firm's Knowledge and Practice Development Group. In the role: - you'll work closely with our five partners on devising and executing strategic knowledge and business development initiatives that help the Group maintain its market leading status; - you'll collaborate with our partners and 20+ lawyers on developing knowledge resources for the benefit of the Group and in maintaining and shaping the Group's awareness of legal and practice developments in Ireland and the EU; - you'll strategically oversee the production and maintenance of the Group's knowledge database and client training materials ensuring accessibility, accuracy and strategic alignment; - you'll horizon scan and provide strategic insight into key legal and market developments, ensuring timely dissemination to clients and the Group ; - you'll be visible in the market as a key member of the Employment Group and represent the Group at industry conferences in Ireland and abroad as a recognised subject-matter expert in your field; - you'll have the opportunity to innovate, lead and influence how we deliver value to Employment Group clients; - you'll have the platform to be client facing by delivering training directly to clients and engaging with them on their knowledge requirements; - you'll support the team with technical legal queries and be responsible for designing and delivering training programmes for the team (particularly our junior lawyers) ; - you'll work with the knowledge and practice development partner, knowledge and practice development lawyers and the Head of Knowledge Delivery on a range of strategic firm wide and client knowledge objectives and work streams; - you'll sit within the Employment Group and report directly to the Head of Employment but also be a member of the firm's broader knowledge function and be part of firm wide knowledge initiatives. The Candidate We are looking for an enthusiastic, technically able, commercially astute, well organised, and self-motivated lawyer with excellent project management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines effectively. Candidates should have comprehensive knowledge of Irish employment law and have strong client-facing experience across a range of employment law matters. You will be given the freedom and flexibility to innovate and strategically develop the Group's knowledge function and business development initiatives in an open and supportive environment. Ideally, you will have an interest in the use of technology to improve the Group's knowledge offering. You will also have the benefit of working alongside a large team of knowledge lawyers within the broad Knowledge function. Requirements: Qualified solicitor/barrister with 5+ years of post-qualification working within the area of employment law Self-motivated and outcome focused Keen interest in legal knowledge, learning and development and business development initiatives Collaborative team player with the ability to develop and work in a dynamic, intellectually rigorous environment Excellent communication skills and a desire to present at client seminars, conferences and workshops Ability to think creatively and strategically and to drive innovation and change An interest in leveraging AI technology to improve knowledge offering and client service delivery Ability to establish credibility with, effectively engage with and influence diverse teams of senior individuals Enthusiasm and a desire to make an impact No previous practice development lawyer experience required.
