The evaluation service links on the following site are provided by South Texas College for your convenience but are not affiliated with South Texas College: NACES Members Job Description General Statement of Job The Open Labs Customer Service Technician supports the open computer labs and patrons with the daily use of computers, software, and other resources. Assists department staff with the day-to-day activities and provides exceptional customer service. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions: Performs a wide variety of customer service and technical support functions including responding to inquiries and providing general information and assistance. Conducts routine walkthroughs of open lab areas while maintaining service areas clean and safe for use. Enforce lab rules and guidelines. Addresses patron issues and concerns to the Open Labs Supervisor or designee. Support patrons with MS Office, Jagnet, Blackboard, Wi-Fi configurations, printing, scanning, and college applications. Provides coverage assistance to assigned labs. Supports the use of makerspace technologies and services. Assists with supporting existing and emerging technologies. Completes assigned college and departmental trainings. Assists department staff with marketing department services and initiatives. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience College Certificate, a minimum of 30 college hours required. At least six (6) months of customer service experience, preferred. Experience in a higher education institution using enterprise systems; e.g. Banner, preferred. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office, Windows OS, and internet research skills. Ability to prioritize, organize, and complete multiple tasks with attention to detail, within stated deadlines. Ability to work independently as well as a team player within department and with others. Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed. Demonstrated commitment to achieving the vision and mission of South Texas College. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, write correspondence and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply practical understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
