The Department of Languages and Cross-Cultural Studies at Augsburg University invites applications for an adjunct faculty position to teach one, two, or all of the following sections of beginning Spanish: SPA 111-B: Beginning Spanish I on MWF 10:50-11:50 and Thursdays from 10:10-11:40. SPA 111-E: Beginning Spanish I on MWF 3:30-4:30 and Thursdays from 3:40-5:10. SPA 112-A: Beginning Spanish II on MWF 2:20-3:20 and Thursdays from 2:00-3:30. All three courses run in Fall 2026 (9/2/2026 - 12/18/2026). Applications will be accepted through July 24, 2026. In addition to teaching the class and grading student work, instructors are expected to respond to student questions through email, hold regularly scheduled office hours, reach out to students with course progress information, and communicate regularly with the course coordinator. Instructor will be required to use Panorama (VHL) and the VHL Supersite. Familiarity with Moodle preferred. Each course requires approximately 12-15 hours/week for 16 weeks. The successful candidate will possess both a high level of intercultural competency and a commitment to inclusive practice and authentic representation. The collective bargaining agreement with SEIU, Local 284, covers adjunct teaching at Augsburg University. Compensation & Benefits Subject to the collective bargaining agreement with SEIU, Local 284 $6,100 to $6,475 per undergraduate course* for the 2026-27 academic year Eligible for 2-4% retirement contribution match Tuition discount for employees and dependents Transit pass discount Not eligible for healthcare benefits *Course refers to a typical 4-credit undergraduate or 3-credit graduate course that has met minimum enrollment requirements. Please note that due to employment law and payroll regulations, we can only employ adjunct faculty who reside in and work from Minnesota or Wisconsin. This restriction also applies to online courses.
