Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a highly capable Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the delivery of complex, high-value projects and contribute to the continued growth of Black & White Engineering in Singapore and across the APAC region. This role will focus on delivering technically challenging projects, particularly within mission-critical environments such as data centres. You will play a key role in engineering design, project delivery, coordination, and client engagement while supporting team development and business growth initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Engineering & Project Delivery
• Deliver high-quality mechanical (MEP) design solutions across all project stages.
• Support end-to-end project delivery, ensuring outputs meet client requirements, timelines, and budget constraints.
• Undertake detailed design calculations, system sizing, and technical documentation.
• Participate in design reviews and ensure compliance with relevant standards and codes.
• Coordinate closely with multi-disciplinary teams, including electrical, structural, and architectural disciplines.
• Technical Excellence
• Provide technical input and guidance within project teams.
• Ensure designs align with industry best practices and local regulatory requirements (e.g. BCA, SS standards).
• Contribute to innovation in engineering solutions, particularly in mission-critical/data centre environments.
• Review and check design work produced by junior engineers.
• Client & Stakeholder Management
• Support client engagement on projects, maintaining strong working relationships.
• Attend client meetings, workshops, and technical discussions.
• Collaborate with contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
• Act as a reliable technical point of contact for assigned projects.
• Team Support & Development
• Mentor and support junior engineers and graduates in their professional development.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the team.
• Assist with internal resource planning and coordination as required.
• Commercial Awareness
• Support project managers in monitoring project scope, timelines, and cost controls.
• Assist in preparing technical inputs for proposals and bid submissions.
• Maintain awareness of project commercial drivers and contribute to efficient delivery.
• Qualifications & Experience
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng/BSc or equivalent).
• Working towards or holding Chartered Engineer status (CEng, PE Singapore, or equivalent) preferred.
• Typically 3-7 years of experience in mechanical (MEP) design consultancy.
• Proven experience delivering complex projects, ideally in: Data Centres / Mission Critical Facilities, Commercial developments, Large-scale infrastructure projects
• Strong knowledge of relevant design standards and Singapore regulations (e.g. BCA, SS standards).
• Proficiency in design tools such as Revit, IES, or similar platforms.
