About the role
We are looking for a driven, hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to take ownership of our UAV platforms from prototype to production. In this role, you will bridge R&D and manufacturing-ensuring designs are buildable, scalable, and mission-ready. You will define processes, drive DFM/DFA, and actively build, test, and improve hardware. This is a critical role shaping how our systems are produced, validated , and deployed at scale. Own the build : Assemble , test , and iterate UAV prototypes and subsystems hands -on - tools in hand , not just on screen. Drive manufacturability : Lead DFM/DFA efforts with R&D to ensure every design is buildable , testable , and production-ready. Define materials & processes : Select manufacturing technologies , materials , and assembly methods balancing performance , weight , cost , and scalability. Establish production standards : Create assembly documentation , test procedures , and quality checkpoints for reliable series production. Hunt down failures : Identify weaknesses , perform root- cause analysis , and enforce design improvements across mechanical and integrated systems. Validate under pressure : Plan and execute structural , functional , and environmental testing - pushing components to their limits before the field does. Seasoned engineering operator : Proven , hands -on experience in manufacturing , R&D, or production engineering - ideally within aerospace , robotics , UAVs, or complex electromechanical systems. Drone manufacturing track record: At least 3 years of hands-on experience manufacturing UAVs - end-to-end ownership from prototype to series production is a strong plus. Systems-level understanding : You grasp how complex electromechanical systems come together and can independently evaluate and decide on manufacturing approaches. DFM/DFA authority : You spot when a design will fail in production - and call it out. If it's not manufacturable , it doesn't pass. CAD confident : Strong in SolidWorks ( or similar ) - 3D modeling , technical drawings , and tolerance analysis are part of your daily workflow. Hands-on, build -first mindset : You build , test , break, and iterate rapidly - comfortable with tools , prototyping , QC processes , and lean manufacturing principles. Cleared for mission : Eligible for NATO or EU security clearance - mandatory , non- negotiable. Language skills : English is required ; German is a plus. Experience with UAV, drone or small aerospace platforms Knowledge of composites , lightweight structures , or advanced materials Background in testing , validation or rapid prototyping ( e.g. 3D printing ) Real impact & ownership : Shape high-tech defense systems and take responsibility from day one. Mission- driven environment : Work on technologies that matter for European security and sovereignty. Competitive package: Competitive salary, EGYM Wellpass , corporate benefits, and equity options aligned with role and level. Deep tech environment : Get hands -on experience with cutting-edge drone technology and real operational use cases. Grow fast: Steep learning curve for juniors , strategic influence and leadership opportunities for seniors. Startup mindset meets defence innovation : flat hierarchies , fast decisions , and space for your ideas . Flexibility : Flexible hours , remote options , and relocation support. Strong team : International, driven colleagues and a culture built on exchange, trust, and shared success.
