Tessera is seeking a hardworking and motivated Motor Vehicle Mechanic with a positive attitude. Typical duties include but are not limited to: Perform preventive maintenance inspections, overhauls and repairs automotive and engineering equipment including passenger-carrying vehicles, light and heavy trucks, trailers, Safeguards Transporter Trailer, Armored Tractor, Escort Vehicles, Support Vehicles and other equipment. Work involves diagnosing the source of trouble and determining the extent of repairs required; replacing worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts; grinding and adjusting valves; rebuilding carburetors; overhauling transmissions; and repairing fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems. Use operator hoists, wrenches, gauges, cutting torches, grinding wheels, and other general or specialized machines, gauges and tools. Perform work requiring the reading of prints, electrical diagrams, and maintenance instructions applicable to the craft. Ensure accurate and efficient replacement of parts and makes repairs and/or adjustments to equipment. Maintain accurate records required during performance of job duties. Ensure that all parts used are properly charged and that exchanged items are turned in to the storeroom or properly disposed of. Responsible for safe operations and proper care of materials, tools and equipment, and the maintenance of good housekeeping in the Vehicle Maintenance Facility. Ensure compliance to applicable Quality Assurance Programs. Responsible for maintaining a knowledge of applicable Federal, State, DOE, Corporate and Site rules and regulations, Labor Agreements and Site-wide operating policies and procedures. Participate in worker involvement including input to work planning and methods to identify hazards and controls.
