OVERVIEW OF POSITION / DEPARTMENT Aurora Water is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the drinking water, sanitary sewer and storm drainage systems, treatment of drinking water and non-potable reclaimed wastewater for irrigation, billing and collection, public outreach and water conservation, acquisition and development of future water rights, major capital projects programs, and quality control for regulatory compliance and public health. The Flow Control Technician - I performs dispatch duties and assists in the operation and monitoring of Aurora's Water system . Answers calls from citizens, dispatch Aurora's on-call personnel, and perform operational duties such as system monitoring, operation, and coordination of on-call response . System monitoring includes water treatment, transmission and distribution, source water, and reuse treatment and pumping. PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Receives and processes emergency, non-emergency, and administrative phone calls from citizens, and Aurora Water divisions, prioritizing calls for service. Performs after-hours emergency dispatch for Aurora Water and maintains field personnel status. Monitors SCADA, a multi-line phone system, and a variety of radio channels simultaneously. With close supervision, monitors SCADA, maintenance management programs, and other computer programs/software to monitor security, operations, and maintenance of Aurora Water systems which includes raw water supply, water treatment, water transmission and distribution, wastewater treatment and collection, wastewater reuse, and storm drain Coordinates with field personnel in emergency situations Transfers calls to various sections in the City of Aurora Assist in preparation of required reports and daily logs Maintains knowledge of departmental policies and procedures Performs other related duties as assigned This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee.
