Adventist HealthCare's The Lourie Center seeks to hire an experienced Crisis Intervention Technician for our Therapeutic Nursery Program who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. The Therapeutic Nursery Program (TNP) is a specialized early childhood education program focused on children's social and emotional development. The classroom is similar to a preschool program, but serves children who have social and emotional delays, trauma histories, aggressive behaviors, and other needs. As a Crisis Intervention Technician you will: - Monitors all student environments, anticipating, identifying, and employing appropriate de-escalation techniques to address disruptive student behaviors - Skillfully and strategically applies a wide variety of verbal and nonverbal de-escalation techniques while maintaining a patient and respectful attitude toward students, demonstrating an ability to relate to children at their level of understanding - Processes Behavioral Intervention Data Sheets by proofreading forms, ensuring accuracy of documentation, obtaining appropriate signatures, and making copies to send home to parent/guardian, and communicates with parents/guardians to resolve concerns of behavior communicated through these forms - Reviews digitally recorded footage of crisis as needed for training, troubleshooting, and staff development - Performs appropriate restraint techniques or removes student from the environment as needed for de-escalation - Communicates with transportation staff regarding reports of student behavior on the bus and relays reports to each classroom and evaluate safety plans for students presenting challenging behavior on the bus - Interacts regularly with classroom staff, social workers, and leadership team involved in crises - Assists in classrooms, as necessary, when other staff members are absent - Serve as crisis intervention technique trainer Qualifications include: - Associates degree or equivalent required - At least 1 year of relevant experience in a program for individuals with behavioral and/or emotional needs; experience may be in an internship, student teaching or volunteer capacity - Basic CPI must be completed within 7 calendar days from hire. Advanced CPI must be completed within 60 days from hire.
