And under this roof, we protect what matters most. The Technician III is responsible for claim evaluations and conducts various testing activities and analysis on sample material. Communicates results effectively and reports meaningful and unbiased conclusions based on evaluations. Conducts specific activities in accordance with established laboratory practices and procedures. Leads and contributes improvements to the lab evaluation processes, Job Safety Analysis, and Standard Operating Procedures. Leads laboratory maintenance and calibration of equipment. Leads and supports training for new hires. Assures all activities are performed. Essential Duties Claims Evaluation: * Lead claim evaluations to determine manufacturing and performance characteristics. * Conduct testing per established protocols and provide accurate data. * Assist in making data-driven decisions on lab dispositions. * Review and improve process flows on a continuous basis per field feedback. * Improve lab efficiency through monitoring of claims influx and prioritizing work to improve and/or meet lab evaluation metrics. * Strong practical knowledge of key product lines, lab evaluation processes, products specifications and application instructions. * Assist in root cause analysis investigations, and report findings in a clear meaningful format. * Participate in problem solving teams * Continue to build partnerships across different teams such as warranty, field services, R&D, and manufacturing plants. * Familiar with various manufacturing processes of different products. * Familiar with quality fundamentals * Knowledge of engineering/science fundamentals Lab Functionality and Maintenance: * Lead lab maintenance and equipment calibration program. * Perform preventive maintenance and calibration of equipment on a predetermined frequency. * Keep accurate records and documentation. * Learn and develop new test methods, SOPs and JSAs. * Assist supervisor to organize daily lab work flow. * Train new hires, develop, mentor, and provide guidance to junior technicians. * Plans and executes assigned projects and prioritizes tasks though time management system. * Coordinate the use of other resources (both internal and external) in order meet project goals and timelines. Safety * Assure all activities are performed safely per established safety guidelines. * Maintain work area in a safe, clean, and orderly fashion on a daily basis following 5S guidelines. * Complete monthly safety training. * Contribute to Job Safety Analysis and Standard Operating Procedure development. * Champion safety activities, and lead housekeeping. * Knowledge of Safety precautions, health hazards, SDS forms. Qualifications Required Associate's Degree in relevant technical field paired with 2+ years of practical, industry-related experience OR Bachelor's Degree in relevant technical field paired with 2+ years of practical, industry-related experience is preferred Proven track record (2-5 years) in a manufacturing or R&D lab setting. Experience navigating quality control, analytical testing, or product development within the roofing or construction materials sector is highly desirable. General Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Excellent interpersonal skills Strong attention to detail Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously Ability to work as a team player Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Entry to Intermediate Excel skills Strong knowledge of roofing products and installation instructions Familiar with standard GAF processes, standards, products specifications Travel Requirements: 5% Base salary and/or rate of pay ranges listed are exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Individual compensation offers will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, relevant candidate experience and skill, education, and/or qualifications.
