About the role
Get to Know the Team The Technical Infrastructure team at Grab is a collective of engineers, product managers, designers, and technical program managers focused on the productivity, development velocity, and efficiency of fellow Grabbers who serve millions of users daily. Our platforms span AI Productivity, Experimentation, Data Platforms, and Machine Learning. We build and maintain the tools and platforms that let Grabbers work smarter and faster. The Data & AI Platforms charter sits at the centre of Grab's AI strategy. We own the AI platform primitives that every product team builds on, and we run the frontier research that informs and augments business investments. Get to Know the Role We are looking for a Principal Product Manager to own AI enablement across Grab. In this role, you will obsess over driving impact for users by connecting platform capabilities with commercialization opportunities to ship AI-native products and enter new businesses. You will embed with internal teams as their AI product partner, broker the partnerships that turn primitives into products, and land the leadership alignment that funds new bets. A second mandate that runs alongside is acting as a Research PM for the team's frontier AI work and connecting that research to commercial execution. This is a Principal-level, senior-IC role. It demands sovereign product judgment across a wide surface - multiple business lines and a frontier research team - the seniority to influence Head-of-Product-level roadmaps, and the technical depth to be a credible partner to AI researchers. The model is the forward-deployed engineer applied to product management, with Grab's internal teams as the customers. You will report to the Head of Product, Data & AI Platforms. The Critical Tasks You Will Perform Roughly 70% of the role is enablement and commercial translation; the remaining 30% is research PM work and the playbook that makes enablement scale. Drive AI-native adoption across Grab. Embed with internal teams as their AI product partner and own adoption of the platform's core primitives. Ensure new ventures launch AI-native from day one; mature businesses re-platform their highest-value use cases onto the same shared primitives. Success is measured by adoption and the business outcomes it drives. Connect AI platform innovation to commercial opportunity. Identify which primitives unlock which business cases, broker the partnerships that get them built, and weave the story around the technology that lands leadership alignment and funding for new business cases. This commercial-translation and influence work is the core of the role. Build with stream-aligned teams, then hand off to platform teams. Partner with stream-aligned product teams to build the first solutions on top of new primitives, then align with and hand those solutions off to platform teams to maintain and scale. You own the path from first build to durable platform capability. Shape Grab's AI Center of Excellence agenda. Work closely with the AI CoE to identify, pitch, shape, and deliver high-value opportunities and projects as the CoE scales - bringing the platform's primitives and your commercial read of the business to its portfolio. Act as Research PM for frontier AI. Partner with research and engineering on the team's deep technical bets. Shape research direction against real commercial demand and package research outputs into primitives that product teams can build on. Codify a repeatable AI-native playbook. Turn bespoke, high-touch enablement into a scalable playbook by defining the reference patterns, adoption paths, and platform capabilities that let any Grab team go AI-native without one-off hand-holding. This is what makes the role's impact compound beyond your personal bandwidth. What Essential Skills You Will Need Commercial translation . A track record of connecting platform or AI capability to commercial opportunities - turning technical primitives into business cases, user outcomes, revenue, or new product lines. Senior stakeholder influence and partnerships. Demonstrated ability to influence Director- and VP-level stakeholders, broker cross-team partnerships, and align senior leaders behind a shared bet without owning the teams that execute it. Storytelling. The ability to make a complex technology legible to a non-technical audience and build the narrative that wins leadership alignment and funding for new business cases. Technical depth in AI. Enough fluency in modern AI to be a credible partner to AI researchers and to shape research direction, not just consume its outputs. Forward-deployed operating model. Comfortable being hands on with customer teams, operating in undefined territory where the right way does not exist yet, and moving with urgency to ship high-impact work. Product management experience. At least 8 years as a PM or founder, with depth in AI/ML, data, or developer and platform products, and evidence of operating at a Principal or staff level
