QA/QC Engineer

About the role

SMITECH is seeking a QA/QC Engineer to support quality assurance and quality control activities for our projects in Singapore. This role will work closely with the QAQC Manager, project team, consultants, subcontractors and site teams to ensure M&E works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, inspection requirements, method statements and quality procedures. This project role is to be based on site on a 5.5-day work week. SMITECH is an established M&E contractor involved in mega national projects with a rapidly growing presence across Singapore. We are actively expanding our operations and are inviting experienced, driven M&E and Civil engineering personnel to join our ranks for new and existing projects.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing project quality plans, inspection checklists, QAQC procedures and quality documentation.
• Support QAQC activities in accordance with project specifications, approved drawings, ISO 9001 requirements and client quality expectations.
• Prepare, maintain and follow up on ITPs, inspection records, test reports, method statements, NCRs, corrective actions and handover documentation.
• Coordinate inspections with clients, consultants, RE/RTO teams, subcontractors and internal project teams.
• Carry out site quality inspections for M&E services such as electrical, ACMV, plumbing, sanitary, fire protection, ELV and building services.
• Monitor workmanship quality and ensure installation works comply with approved drawings, specifications and project requirements.
• Assist in tracking NCRs, quality defects, rectification works and closure of outstanding quality issues.
• Support testing and commissioning documentation, authority/client inspections and project handover submissions.
• Maintain proper QAQC records, filing and traceability for audit and handover purposes.
• Promote good quality practices and support continuous improvement to reduce rework and defects.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum three (3) years of QAQC / site engineering experience in construction, M&E or infrastructure projects.
• Familiar with M&E installation quality requirements, inspection processes and project documentation.
• Good understanding of ITPs, method statements, inspection records, NCR tracking, test reports and handover documentation.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management requirements will be an advantage.
• Able to read and understand technical drawings, specifications and construction documents.
• Experience in infrastructure, transport, utilities, MRT/LTA-related, commercial, industrial or public-sector projects will be an advantage.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and QAQC documentation tracking.
• Meticulous, organised and able to follow up on quality issues to closure.
• Able to coordinate effectively with consultants, subcontractors, site teams and internal project stakeholders.
