About the role
The Department of Finance and Operational Excellence within Facilities and Business Operations is seeking to hire a detail-oriented, collaborative Finance/Budget Analyst II to support the Planning, Design and Construction (PDC) department. Responsibilities
- Manage Financial Transactions
- Handle all financial activities related to capital projects-journal entries, budget amendments, requisitions, purchase orders, invoice payments, and financial close-out procedures.
- Monthly Reconciliation
- Perform reconciliations between Workday and other systems (e.g., Trimble, AIM).
- Prepare clear supporting workpapers and review documentation, and work with departments to research and resolve discrepancies.
- Reporting and Analysis
- Support financial reporting needs through ad hoc reports, reconciliations, forecasts, and construction-related financial analyses.
- May assist in tasks assigned to a higher-level analyst.
- Problem Solving and Decision-Making
- Investigate and resolve complex accounting issues independently with moderate supervision.
- Provide insights and recommendations to supervisors.
- Process Improvement
- Document financial business processes, identify inefficiencies, and propose solutions to streamline accounting operations.
- Team Collaboration
- Work closely with internal departments including General Accounting, Finance Operations, and PDC.
- May also support or mentor junior analysts as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or combination of relevant comparable education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219 .
- 3+ years of experience in accounting, budgeting, or financial analysis, preferably in a higher education, government, or capital construction environment.
- Demonstrated experience with preparing journal entries, procurement transactions and other similar financial transactions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including use of formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment and identify/resolve discrepancies as they arise.
- Working knowledge of Workday Financials or similar ERP systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Excellent analytical skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Special Instructions to the Applicants:
- The anticipated salary range for this position is $56,030 - $68,000. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
