- Bachelor's degree in engineering technology in a program accredited by ABET* along with two or more years of related engineering technology experience.

- Individuals with a bachelor's degree in engineering (non-technology) may also be considered.
- In lieu of an ABET-accredited degree, a bachelor's degree in engineering technology (non-ABET) combined with a master's or PhD in engineering technology from a university with an ABET-accredited bachelor's program is acceptable
- A VP or above may waive the requirement for a degree from a non-ABET-accredited program.
